Acupuncture FAQ
What is Acupuncture and How Does It Work?
Acupuncture uses tiny needles to stimulate points along the body that have long been observed to have positive influence on health.
There are many theories and schools of thought on how acupuncture works.
The undeniable fact is that it works.
Traditional schools of thought believe that acupuncture helps to regulate the movement of energy within the body. This improves circulation of vital fluids like blood and lymph and promotes the proper movement of food and waste.
Proper circulation also helps to reduce pain and promote healing. When our energy is moving and in balance we feel less stress, anxiety and depression.
Modern science observes that acupuncture helps to relieve pain by activating the body's own internal pain killers.
Acupuncture regulates neurological, hormonal, and immunological pathways meaning it can be used to influence and regulate any system of the body.
Acupuncture helps to release tension from tight or injured muscles, tendons and ligaments so they can heal more quickly.
It can treat all kinds of muscle and joint issues from simple tension and strains to more severe injuries and types of arthritis. Acupuncture is famous for treating low back and neck pain.
Acupuncture is also well known for improving digestive function, fertility, cardiovascular health, and overall wellness while regulating inflammation and the immune system.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?
Most people say no!
Everyone's sensitivity is different. When treatment is being applied you may feel a slight pinch that lasts just a moment. This is frequently followed by a wave of relaxation that allows you to enter a sleepy or dream-like state. This is when your body can respond to the guidance of the acupuncture to rebalance energy, release tension, reduce pain or whatever the chief complaint might be.
